A true motivating speech no matter what happens just stand stand with your will to move forward and make an impact… hat's off to you sir
His speech, his tone in the words he expresses and shows us how life should be taken as a man. I am literally touched and inspired. ❤ So much love to everyone! May we never sour as people but bring out the sweetest in all and everyone.
WTF is wrong with the guy on the left .. what's with the dead expression look… U r listening to the best speech of the millennium.. stupid grandpa..
This has to be the best speech I’ve ever listened to!! I will forever ask myself “how am I living “ from now on. Life is truly our best teacher so we should all pay attention to its lessons. Thank you sir for being such an inspiration xxxx
This is the best commencement speech I've ever heard. ❤️
I love this, I can relate coming from a 5th grade drop out father, from Mexico who refuses to give up on us and himself. Who did the process of becoming an American!…on his own. Met a beautiful woman, that Is my mother, and never gave up. He is now an owner of a trucking fleet and has gained the American Dream. But refuses to let us have an easy way out. He has taught us what humble is, before he realized it. He is my hero!. I love you Pa.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you stumble across something that hits you like a brick. This commencement speech is one of those things. I have watched this video three times this morning, and each time I say to myself, "this is what America is all about. This country allows a person to be the best that he or she can be. I personally, consider myself to be a good man, but, truth be told, I have lots of room for improvement. I do try, and sometimes succeed, but more often than not, come up short. With the recent events in Las Vegas, (my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the 58 people that died and the over five hundred people that were wounded,) let this video show the world that this is what denotes what America stands for. Not some coward, (because someone that sits on the 32nd floor of a hotel and rains bullets down on innocent people is truly a coward), but America is what this video is all about. For every "coward" in this country there are thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people that strive to be the best that they can be. It doesn't matter if your skin is brown, black, white or purple. It doesn't matter if you were born here or in another country. America is a place where people can strive to be the best that they can be. Please don't let a "coward" define what America is all about, but embrace the American's that truly make this country great by being the best that they can be. Don't let this country be defined by the small percentage of "cowards" that undermine what this country stands for, but by the people that make this country great. Don't let this country be showcased by the people that try to bring this country to its knees, but instead, embrace the people that do their very best to allow this country to thrive, like Dr Rick Rigsby, and the thousands of people that scratch and claw and crawl to be the best that they can be. That is what America is all about. I truly believe that this video should be viewed by every grade school, high school and college student in the nation. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Loved this very much I have been getting kicked alot lately while trying to be the person I know I should be. This video really touches home and reminds me I'm not wrong for pushing through . Thank you
Lord Grant me the wisdom of the third grade drop out
What a great speech. My heart goes out to this GREAT MAN. If people aren't inspired by his words, they weren't listening, if you weren't listening, I suggest you try again. My father was my inspiration, a simple Fruiterer, but he taught me that nothing of value is easily earned. 15 years ago my wife and I lost our son Trent, we were both devastated, I took to drinking to excess, feeling sorry for myself. One day my wife Betty looked at me and said, " we still have a daughter you know", that changed me immediately, I, in the midst of self sorrow, had forgotten about everyone else. Please listen to those who you Love, and those who Love you, and continue to improve your life, and the kives of those you meet every day.
Is it because my optemetrist dilated my both eyes that I am crying while watching his speech or simply because of how awesome and inspiring the words of wisdom he spreading!
Always great motivational speakers. It's a pity the background music competes to the point where you can't hear the speech in this video. I'd love to hear it minus the theatrical music.
My uncle who just performed my wedding almost two weeks ago is an amazing man. I’ll never tire of his testimony!!! Love you Uncle Rick!!!
I am so touched by this. I am tired of those who wear their degrees on their chest, like a medal that puts them in a better class. There is more to be learned outside school than inside. School is a good excuse to hide from real life and responsibility. In school, you are told what is true and what to believe; in the real world, you discover it for yourself.
That was the lessons of life, not taught in the four corners of the class, the greatest lessons we could all have is to be kind and stand at the lowest point of our life…thank you Goalcast for an everyday inspirations🙂👍
This speech deeply moved me. I pray that I'll have the chance to meet this person face to face in the future. God bless you, Dr. Rigsby 😁
My brother -in-law, Dr. Rick Rigsby is so awesome! The Impact that he makes on others lives with his knowledge and wisdom astounds me every time I hear him speak! I love you and I am Godley proud of how you let Him use you each and every day! Brenda Butcher Moorehead
I just love it. I'm trying to keep standing now after my husband was murdered July 27, 2017. I just ask God to give me justice. To have the killer be arrested and convicted and not get away with such a heinous crime. I ask God to have the person live through in his mind of how he took 7 people lives away from them. Not including this rest of the family. God will provide and justice will prevail swiftly and surely. He say that this too shall pass. This is a hard season of lessons for me. I'm being tested like Job. What is so mind boggling is that I asked God would I ever have to go through what Job went through to prove how much I love you and won't turn my back away. Pray for me and my family. Pray for Justice for the person who committed crimes against loved ones who have to stand in a court of law and be convicted of their crime of killing our spouse.
It was so awesome to be there. This was my graduate degree commencement. Cal Maritime graduation 2nd time. Undergrad ('94) and graduate ('17) alum.
Dr. Rigsby made me cry…he is so right and I truly feel and believe the truths he shared so eloquently! I've followed the ideas that he speaks of… but in my health challenges, I needed to hear this again. Our new generation needs to understand this. He is truly a wise man.
Facebook’s weird. You click onto something funny and it leads you to something else. I’m in the middle of some stuff. All will be well because I will make it well. But it’s hard to get out of bed sometimes. It’s nine in the morning here in Ireland and I just watched this before getting up to start my day and it helped. It’s going to be a good day.
"I'm not going to have a problem if you aim high and miss" I'm going to have a real issue if you aim low and hit!" "I know your tough but always remember to be kind ALWAYS!" "Always be early" "make sure your servants towel is bigger than your ego" "ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity!" "Pride is the burden of a foolish person " "if you're going to do a job do it right" "just stand" " you keep standing" "no matter how rough the sea, you keep standing" "no matter what, you don't give up" "it doesn't matter to me anymore how long I lived," what matters to me most is HOW I lived!" "how you living?" "Ask yourself that daily!" "Do not judge," "show up early," "be kind," "make sure that servants towel is Huge and used," "it's never wrong to do the right thing," "how you do anything, is how you do everything," " in that way you will grow your influence to make an impact," "combine knowledge and wisdom to make an impact" "be the best YOU that you can be," "if you think you can, or if you think you can't, you're right!" "Catch me in the act of excellence!" "You are what you repeatedly do! Therefore excellence Should be a habit not an act!" " when you hit rock bottom remember this, why are struggling rock bottom can also be a great foundation on which to build and on which to grow!" "I'm not worried that you'll be successful, I'm worried that you won't fail from time to time!" "For years my heart didn't beat, if it wasn't for my faith in God, I wouldn't be standing here today"
Natasha Naomi Dawkins And I used to think I was clever with the words. This might be the best commencement speech I ever heard in my life. "How You Living"
Wow sometimes the greatest lessons are learned from the simplest things and people in life: all you have to do is pay attention!
